Challenge: To re-design and re-conceive the old website, de-emphasizing site retail sales (to encourage retail partner sales) and building up a better community/social media presence:
Solution: After extensive consumer search activity and competitive study, we developed a sitemap that combined our findings and the client’s objectives. We developed a three-stage home rotation that (1) featured a product, (2) introduced a pain management module, and (3) emphasized a social media message. While de-emphasized on the new home page, an e-commerce store entryway is fixed next to the rotation to that it secondarily featured. We purposely encouraged customer social media interaction with live Facebook and Twitter feeds, along with a featured YouTube video. The footer introduces the four main pain management sections, along with a newsletter sign-up form. The total effect of the home page is to display vibrant, effective arthritis pain relief products with a strong social interaction with it pain relief community. The client is currently enjoying increased targeted search engine traffic from potential new customers, which will continue to grow as additional pain management pages target pain relief topics. The number of pages views and average time spent on-site have also increased with this new site.
While a core objective was to reduce online sales in favor of a retail store push, site sales are still robust, and we have recently added an automated up-sell calculation/message to the shopping cart, urging people at checkout to spend $50 or more to qualify for free shipping.
Another showcase component of the site is our use of MegaMenus – dropdown menus that contain images and text in a page-like layout. This adds further excitement, interest, salesmanship, and immediate comprehension to a navigation element that is more commonly presented as plain links.
